[Nikko Hurtado], Bio shares he was born in 81' raised in San Fernando Valley, Ca. growing up in the high desert. His hobby use to be drawing cartoons and characters. Nikko, 16, and close friend "Mike DeMasi" got a car and started taking classes at the "Art Center of Pasadena". After A few years Niko dropped Art, and then decided to do construction. 3 years later, after some good ole labor "Nikko" decides to stop by 'Art Junkies Tattoo Studio' in Hesperia, Ca. Stopping in to check on His boy, Mike, who has been tattooing for a quite sometime, offers "Nikko" an apprenticeship.
Within [Nikko's] first year of tattooing he murders a piece that changed his career forever! His first color portrait he ever attempted was a "BatMan" piece. The client captivated by the piece, enters it in the "Pomona Tattoo Portrait Contest". Taking home First Place, would be one of his many awards he's collected over the years. The Portrait brought Nikko instant attention, causing the image to go viral in the the tattoo community! All this taking place before Facebook, Instagram, and anything social media ever existed.
"Nikko" Making a name for his self as the go-to artist for color portraits, and featured on TV shows such as LA Ink, Tattoo Wars, Tori & Dean, and Spike TV’s Ink Master. These TV appearances caught several celebrities attention and created a lane for him to tattoo many in the industry such as Musicians Drake, The Game, Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Brandon Boyd, Jose Pasillas, Wale, Andrew WK, and Cheryl Cole; [Athletes]: Carlos Boozer and Chris Cole [Actors]: Guillermo Diaz and Jenna Jameson and [Celebrities]: Jeffree Star, Jesse James, and Kat Von D.
In 2009, Nikko, started his on studio, called "Black Anchor Collective tattoo studio". He states in his Bio “I noticed that many of my clients were flying in from all over the World to get tattooed,” he says “I want my clients to feel special and to know that I appreciate them. I just wanted to give them more of myself.” The anchor symbolizing something very personal for Nikko, he says it pays homage to classic tattooing iconography, also representing... friendship, family, and love. 2013 crossing a special milestone in his career, Hosting his first solo art show called "Renati".
